At the SIP Forum SUPERBOOTH, Hotsip, Hughes Software,
Ingate, Intertex, Jasomi, Mitel Networks, RADVISION,
Sentito, and Snom, join forces to lead the way towards
real market interoperability and functionality.
Atlanta, USA – 3rd June, 2003 – SIP Forum,
(www.sipforum.org), the industry organization for the
promotion and interworking of Session Initiation Protocol
(SIP), announces today that nine of the leading companies
from the SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) communications
community have joined forces to produce compelling
demonstrations that will display interoperability of
disparate SIP products in a mobile and fixed network
at Supercomm 2003 in Atlanta from June 1st – 5th,
2003. The nine leading SIP vendors participating at
the SIP Forum at Supercomm 2003 include Hotsip, Hughes
Software, Ingate, Intertex, Jasomi, Mitel Networks,
RADVISION, Sentito, and Snom
The installation of the entire SIP network demo will
be set up in under 2 hours 30 minutes, that’s
30 minutes faster than last year, which illustrates
the speed, and cost savings that can be expected when
implementing a SIP based mobile and fixed converged
network. All aspects of the maturing SIP networking
technology are linked and demonstrated including desktop
phones, proxy, registration, Presence servers, platforms
for both enterprise and carrier side infrastructure.
In addition, a complete suite of standards-compliant
tools for developing, testing and validating all types
of SIP-based applications, essential for reliable network
implementation will also be shown at the show.
The super interoperability demo will effectively represent
participants as a standalone domain or operator linking
to each other, as would be the case in a real world
environment. All phones throughout the booth will be
able to make and receive calls from any other phone
within and outside the booth linked to the internet/PSTN
world through a media gateway.
“sentitO is very proud to be an active contributor
to the SIP Forum, as well as a participant in this
year’s SuperDemo,” said Terry Wolters,
President and CEO of sentitO Networks. “Carriers
around the world now understand the value of SIP in
their networks. Showcasing SIP’s benefits at
a venue like Supercomm only enhances its viability
as the protocol of choice for carrier-class Voice over
IP deployments.”
"As an enabler of VoIP systems, there's no more
appropriate place for us than here in the SIP Forum
SuperDemo booth," said Benjamin Freedman, VP of
Marketing for Jasomi Network, Inc. "With our award-winning
NAT traversal technology, Jasomi Networks is a very
important piece of the VoIP puzzle, and that's why
we're very happy to be an integral piece of the SIP
community".
"Industry bodies like the SIP Forum are critical
in accelerating the education and adoption of standards-based
solutions in enterprise communications," said
Ray Brown, Vice President, Enterprise Solutions, Mitel
Networks. "Mitel Networks is pleased to participate
in this year's SIP SuperDemo and demonstrate the value
and benefits of true interoperability in a multi-vendor
environment."
"Hughes Software Systems (HSS) is excited to
be part of the SuperDemo set-up by the SIP Forum",
said Ajay Gupta, AVP, HSS. "This is a reflection
of HSS' ongoing commitment to provide its customers
with a tested, deployable, carrier grade SIP Server
Framework and Protocol Stacks. HSS SIP Server Framework
can be used as Proxy, registrar as well as can as a
platform to run services like conferencing, IP Centrex,
etc."
“Intertex is honored to be an active member
in the SIP Forum and to be a participant in SIP Forum's
SuperDemo at SuperComm,” said Martin Feuk, Intertex'
Vice President of Marketing and Worldwide Sales. "It
is expected that real-time person-to-person communication
such as IP telephony (VoIP), presence, instant messaging,
voice, video, and data collaboration will be the next
big step in Internet usage. The predominant Internet
standard for such communication is SIP. Intertex is
pleased to be a contributor in assisting the SIP user
community's achievement of connectivity by providing
firewalls that are SIP capable".
“The interoperability that is being shown at
the SIP Forum and other SIP conferences is giving SIP
credibility and is beginning to translate into volume
for all – open standards are an inevitable trend
that has been embraced by market even though a few
companies still have a hard time accepting that." said
Nicolas Pohland Executive Director of snom technology
AG.
“SIP has reached a critical deployment stage,” said
Jorgen Bjorkner, Chairman of the SIP Forum. “Most
vendors now include SIP in their corporate roadmaps,
and real world services by incumbent operators are
already being rolled out. At the SIP Forum, Supercomm
visitors will be able to see first-hand how personal
applications can easily interconnect with WAN-centric
systems from various vendors. From both a carrier and
an end-user perspective, this is a highly attractive
scenario as they will soon no longer be locked into
a single supplier or system.”
The variety of SIP technologies on display in the
SIP Forum booth at Supercomm 2003 include: softswitch-compliant
media servers, testing tools, Presence products for
mobile and fixed networks, softswitches and gateways,
desktop phones and softphones, SIP Proxy, Registration
and Applications servers, video and complete business
systems all working robustly together.
